NUR SABRINA
Path Changer
As I walked down the corridor,
The memories impatiently rushing back to me,
Looking at those pure-hearted innocent
faces,
Smiling goofily towards each other,
Interlocking hands with others,
Walking and running down corridor like the
world is theirs.
I dare to say, i know how the adrenaline rushes
as i've been there.
U cannot simply hide your snicker smile
when your friends pull out something out of their sleeves.
U cannot simply reject your friend lunch
request as tomorrow you know that they
cannot let you go that easy.
All you do is exploring, learning, gathering
as much as you can.
Without knowing when exactly you will look
back at it again.
Then, I was in their shoes.
But, now, I'm standing in the corridor,
waiting patiently for them to calm down their adrenaline before the lesson
begins.
The game has change.
The table has turn.
Then, I am the one who are hungry for
knowledge,
Now, I am the one who will feed this pure innocent
faces with everything right that i know.
Then, I came to learn.
Now, I come to educate.
Then, I was a student.
Now, I am a teacher.
Same environment, but, the responsibility
has changed.
DAHLIA
(Prose fiction)
As a girl rushed over to
grab her school bag from being thrown away, the bell rang. Luckily, she managed
to grab it before other kids saw it. She hates school. If she has one power,
she would definitely ask for only one thing, to make this school disappeared. Her
life was a smooth sailing before her family took the decision to split up a
year ago and sent her to stay with her grandparents. She didn’t deserve to
stay, to live, and to grow up in this isolated place. The place was not bad at
all, but because she didn’t like it, everything seems wrong. The first time she
entered this school compound, she already had a feeling that her life will
become haywire in no time. What she thought then, happening now.
Every single morning, she
forced her feet to come here. She loves to learn new thing, but the environment
was just horrible. At first she thought everything went well but it’s not. The moment
stepped her feet in her class, everyone stared at her like she just committed a
crime. But among all, stares that she didn’t like the most was from three pairs
of eyes. Their stare like dagger that can make you bleed anytime. Sarah,
Atikah, and Balqish were the superior in the class. Everyone not even dare to
say “Excuse me” if they were blocking the corridor. Other kids rather take
another route to avoid them. She knew it, she will become their target soon.
“Hey
Dahlia, come here a second.” Dahlia forcefully dragged her feet towards Sarah
and the gang. “Anything that I can help you?” Sarah smirked at her. Within split
second, both of her bag straps were pulled to the other directions by Atikah
and Balqish. Before realizing what actually happened, she wobbled and stumbled
on her feet and fall on the floor. Pranggg!! All of her things in her bag
scattered on the floor. Sarah picked up her wallet and opened it. “Well,
basically we are super hungry and our forgetful brain make us forgot to bring
money. Since you offer us some help so, we cannot say no.” Sarah took her money
and just dumped her wallet effortlessly on the floor. “Hey!! Give me back my
money!” Dahlia exclaimed in frustration. Three of them just waved at her with
wicked smile plastered on their angular faces. That is how she went through for
her school life for a year.
She never let them to get on her nerve again. This
time, she wanted to stand up for her own sake. As usual, the three of them
stopped her by the corridor. Sarah tried to stop her by pulling her bag. Dahlia
flinched as hard as she could until Sarah stumbled back. Furious because Dahlia
stood up for the first time, she lunged herself at Dahlia intended to strangled
her. Dahlia dodged the attack and it was to late for Sarah to stop her action
because she was too fact at that time and she couldn’t stop herself. In front
of her, there was a sharp stick that stood out from wooden plywood.
Before anyone could react, Sarah was full of
blood. She held her hands by her stomach. Hysterical scream filled out every
corner of the school. The teacher rushed Sarah to the hospital as Dahlia was
asked to a statement about the accident. After being interrogated by the
police, proven that it was not her mistake. After that incident, Dahlia life
changed. She didn’t had to stay under her shell if she didn’t want people to
manipulate her. Even though it was not her intention at all, but something like
this must not happened. But still the lesson well learned.
